About Me
David Zimmerman is a dedicated piano technician and freelance musician based in Whitestown, Indiana. With a deep passion for music, David has cultivated a rich and varied career that combines his expertise in piano technology with his love for teaching and performing.
David’s work as a piano technician is distinguished by his comprehensive knowledge and dedication to his craft. He is a fully insured technician serving the Indianapolis metropolitan area, with a particular interest in early instruments made before the modern piano. His journey into piano technology began during the pandemic when, with schools closed, he turned his attention to restoring a broken-down harpsichord. This project ignited his passion for the field, leading him to establish his own business. As a one-man operation, David takes immense pride in his tuning and repair work, ensuring that each client is completely satisfied with his services. He emphasizes the importance of regular piano maintenance, particularly in Indiana’s unpredictable climate, recommending tunings every six months to a year.
David’s journey began in Centerville, Indiana, where his early experiences with music shaped his future. He pursued his passion for music education at Ball State University, graduating in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Vocal/General Music Education. For twelve years, he taught choir in Indiana public schools, leaving a lasting impact on his students. During this time, David also developed a strong interest in piano technology, a field he would later pursue professionally.
David’s musical talents extend beyond piano technology. He is the director of the Circle City Sound chorus, an a cappella barbershop group, and a proud member of the Piano Technicians Guild and Barbershop Harmony Society. His musical journey includes singing tenor with the 2015 International Champion Quartet, Instant Classic, a group that has gained significant acclaim.
